Dial the Lore is operated by ScandiHåndverk, an Illinois, USA business, through its djohnson.tech technology and development division. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to ScandiHåndverk. This policy covers our website, dashboard, browser previews, and hosted phone experiences.
1. Information we handle
- Account information. Your email address, account identifier, authentication information, and sign-in or account-management records. Our authentication provider processes your password; we do not need your password to provide support.
- Project content. Project names, drafts, published versions, menu text, voice settings, uploaded audio, scheduling settings, assigned project phone numbers, and usage limits.
- Call usage. Call identifiers, project identifiers, timestamps, duration, completion status, keypad/request events, generated playback instructions, and estimated usage costs. Our application’s call-usage records do not store callers’ phone numbers. Twilio and telecommunications carriers still process caller and destination numbers and related call metadata to connect calls.
- Website and security information. Our hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, browser or device information, requests, timestamps, errors, and security logs when you use the service.
- Messages to us. Your email address, message, and attachments when you contact us.
The current service plays creator-written text or creator-uploaded recordings and accepts keypad input. It does not record callers’ voices or offer a caller voicemail-recording feature. Uploaded audio is content provided by creators, not a recording we make of incoming callers.
2. How we use information
We use information to operate accounts, save and publish projects, deliver phone and browser experiences, process schedules and recordings, measure usage, enforce limits, troubleshoot problems, prevent misuse, respond to requests, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
3. Published content and private drafts
Drafts and uploaded recordings are restricted to your account and the service providers needed to operate the platform. Authorized service access may be used for support, maintenance, security, or legal obligations.
Publishing makes the published experience available through its phone number, if assigned, and public preview link. A preview link is not a password: anyone with it can access the published experience and share it. Published audio is made playable through temporary links. Do not publish confidential information, other people’s personal information without permission, or recordings you are not entitled to share.
4. Service providers and disclosures
We use providers to run the service, including Supabase for authentication, project data, and audio storage; Twilio for telephone delivery and text-to-speech; Vercel for hosting and request processing; and email services to handle account messages and support correspondence. Telephone carriers also process calls.
Text-to-speech sends the text needed for playback to the telephone service and its voice providers. Browser text previews use your device’s speech-synthesis features, whose processing depends on your browser, operating system, and selected voice. Browser previews do not place phone calls. Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives the network requests needed to deliver those files.
Providers process information under their own terms and our arrangements with them. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer with appropriate safeguards.
5. Browser storage and optional analytics
The dashboard uses browser local storage for authentication tokens so you can stay signed in. Signing out clears the local session used by the app. We use optional Google Analytics to understand page visits and improve the service. The Google Analytics tag loads only after you accept analytics; rejecting leaves it off. If you accept, Google processes analytics cookie identifiers, page visits, browser/device information, network information such as your IP address, and approximate location derived by its services. We send generic page routes and titles, not project names, project content, account identifiers, URL queries, or authentication tokens. We do not enable advertising features or send a user ID. Google’s own processing is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
You can accept, reject, or withdraw analytics through “Analytics choices” in the footer. We remember your choice in local storage for up to 180 days; analytics cookies are configured with a 90-day lifetime. Withdrawing stops future tracking through our integration and clears its accessible Google Analytics cookies. It does not automatically delete information already collected by Google; contact us for privacy requests. Authentication storage is necessary for account features and is separate from your analytics choice. Hosting and security providers may use technologies needed to deliver and protect their services.
6. Keeping and deleting information
We keep account, project, support, and operational information as needed to provide the service, protect it, resolve disputes, and comply with law. Project versions and call-usage records do not currently have an automatic age-based deletion schedule.
Deleting a project removes its project records, associated published versions, and application call-usage records; we also attempt to remove its uploaded audio. Archiving only hides a project from the active list: its published experience continues to work. Removing a recording from a draft does not automatically delete that file or remove it from earlier published versions.
For account deletion, audio-cleanup concerns, or other removal requests, contact hello@dialthelore.com. We may need to verify your identity. Backups, provider call logs, security records, and information we must retain for legal reasons may remain for additional periods under the relevant retention arrangements. We cannot remove copies others have independently saved or shared.
7. Security and international processing
We use account access controls, restricted storage, encrypted network connections, and other reasonable measures to protect information. No system can guarantee complete security. Keep your account credentials private and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
We operate from the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Applicable privacy protections can differ by location; where required, appropriate legal safeguards apply to international transfers.
8. Your choices and privacy requests
You can edit project content, delete projects, and sign out through the dashboard. Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive a copy of, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, or to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You may also have a right to complain to your local privacy regulator.
Send requests to hello@dialthelore.com. We will handle requests under applicable law and may ask for information needed to verify them. If your information appears in a creator’s experience, include its preview link or phone number so we can identify the relevant project and coordinate with its creator where appropriate.
9. Children
Dial the Lore is intended for creators and general audiences, not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the effective date and provide any additional notice required by law. For privacy questions, contact hello@dialthelore.com.
